“Oh how I love winter and the cold! I’d live here forever!!”
– Said all citizens living in country with only 2 seasons.
Early December, I went to Taiwan for a week during winter. It didn’t snow in Taiwan, but the temperature reached around 10 degree and the night breeze may pierce your skin to your bones. Rain was pouring down almost everyday, so it was definitely chilly. In this post, I’ll share my outfits along with my personal tips and trick on staying fashionable and chic in the cold days!
1. Lowkey Monochromatic
In this look, I wore turtle neck because it was my first day and I didn’t know what to expect from the temperature and weather. So I wore a long-sleeved stripes knit top with a turtle neck to keep my neck warm, just in case the temperature drops. On top of it, I had applied a white denim jacket with unfinished edges. Clothing with unfinished edges are so in at the moment and you should have at least a piece with fraying details. For the pants, I chose to wear a black denim jegging with rips on the knees. As you can see, I intently went all monochrome for specially this day. My makeup, clothing, accessories and footwear says it all. Going black and white may be a bit boring and plain, so for a twist you can add a pattern to your outfit that is still in monochromatic tones.

2. Mustard Statement
Mustard is definitely a color to be noticed this year. The comeback of mustard is stronger than any other color. I have fallen in love with this color lately and couldn’t help myself but infusing this color as much as I can to my looks. So I was glad to match my mustard midi-skirt with a navy blue velvet top. I made the top myself, and had been waiting for the right time to wear this since velvet fabric is very warm. To be wearing it in Jakarta would be a bit unsuitable because it would make me sweaty. So it definitely kept me warm in Taiwan. To complement the mustard color of my skirt, I tied a twilly scarf with mustard stripes pattern on my neck for fashion purpose and also keeping my neck warm.

3. Pink Blossom-ed
Pink is an all-time favorite color of mine, but I don’t like to be seen very girly with the color. So rather than wearing pink from head to toe, I added pink only as an additional statement to my outfit. Pink was definitely and boldly stated through the bag I wore, which was bright Fuschia Pink color. Just in case, I brought along with me a huge oversized soft-pink knit sweater because my top was made of lightweight knit fabric. The day I wore this outfit, I was sightseeing at Xinshe and was told that Xinshe is located on a higher land, so the temperature might be lower than it is in Taichung. Hearing this, I wrapped a light cream colored chunky knit scarf around my neck to protect my neck from the cold wind. Knitwear is an essential thing during cold days to keep us safe from the cold. For the bottom, I wore a light colored denim jeans. Completing my outfit, I put on a white platform shoe to add a bit of cm to my height.

4. Layering Checks
I had bought a cute leather dress with a spaghetti strap at a night market the day before and had planned to wear it with my Checkered shirt dress which I used as an outer since the fabric was quite thick and warm. Inside the dress, I wore a knit mustard top to stand me out with a bright color. Layering was what I really needed because the pieces I wore wasn’t really thick. I also wrap the mustard stripes twilly scarf around the bag hand strap. The shoes I wore in this look was a heeled pointy slip-on mules with gold chain decoration at the front.
