An evening was well-spent at The Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place. Last 18th of October, I got a chance and was honored to attend LAKMÉ Trend Gala. The show was presented by LAKMÉ Absolute Reinvent in collaboration with FIMELA.COM, featuring Indonesian local designers such as Kraton Auguste Soesastro, Mel Ahyar, Sapto Djojokartiko and also Toton. On that night, the designers showcased their recent collections. Before the show started and the gate was opened, we were led to a room where we can take pictures, eat canapes and drink beverages.
The fashion show was opened by Saptodjojokartiko. In his collection, he admitted that he came out of his comfort zone with a new fresh face. Still creating very pretty and elegant designs, but in this collection he seemed to include some vibrant colors like bright yellow, pink. Main fabric used was mostly lightweight fabrics such as tulle, to create the beautiful flows. Beadings then decorated the clothes beautifully.
Up next, was Toton. Toton imagined that punk movement happened long time ago in Java during the mid-century. There’s an influence of controversy in heritage. With a contemporary approach, his designs somehow came out really strong and bold. Constructed shapes and patterns were the highlights. Re-constructed formal wear could be seen on most of the pieces. Prints, fringes and beadings made a statement to the apparels. One look was very punk, the model wore a black tuxedo and a pants made of black belts with the straps hanging loose.
Following Toton, Kraton Auguste Soesastro collections came out. He’s still holding on to his brand DNA. Lots of elements inspired from engineering and architecures, his collection came in subdued colors like black, white, brown, navy blue and warm grey. The looks were simply minimalist in solid colors and stiff in construction due to heavyweight fabrics.
Last but definitely my favorite, Mel Ahyar. She didn’t fail to surprise me and the invited guests with her dreamy yet very splendid collection. That night she took us all to a fantasy land of botanical garden. Escaping reality to an imaginary world was a perfect theme to be brought up. These days the hustle and bustle of the world tend to exhaust all of us. These elements then inspired Mel Ahyar to create a couture collection. All the looks were gorgeous and sophisticated. The main fabrics seen being used were tulle, jacquard, and beautifully decorated with impressive beading and embroideries. Even the accessories ( in partnership with Litany ) were stunning.
After the fashion show, LAKMÉ announced their new brand ambassador, which is Agnez Monica. She’s perfect for LAKMÉ makeup, her fearless and glamorous attitude has shined through over the time.
All invitees received a goodie bag too, consisting a mini mirror, pencil liner and a makeup remover all by LAKMÉ makeup.
See you on the next event!
